etoxing has long been viewed as one of the healthier ways to clean out our bodies and it often involves a dietary regimen of juices or teas.

However,  a juice fast may not be the best way to detox, as they already clear out toxins on their own. But what we can do to help it along is by cleaning our bodies naturally through the following healthy habits.

Get sleep

While this may seem obvious, fewer people are getting the recommended eight hours a night. Sleep is important to the body, as we need it to grow muscle, repair tissue and synthesize hormones. Getting rest also reduces stress and inflammation, so make sure to keep your bedroom cool, dark, and distraction-free so you can get the sleep you need.

Slow down your meals

Next time you eat, take into account how much you’re consuming. By eating so much at once, you encourage bloating. In addition to that, the oxygen you breathe while eating quickly makes you feel fuller, even if you haven’t eaten as much as you need to. Instead, eat smaller meals more frequently, allowing you to feel full for longer.

Ditch the alcohol

Alcohol is full of empty calories and can quickly dehydrate you. If you’re in the middle of a cleanse, stick to water. Staying properly hydrated helps your kidneys work to flush out the toxins. If you’re not a fan of plain water, add some lemon for electrolytes, or turn to green tea for similar benefits.

Pay attention to what you eat

Ditch foods that are processed, fried and sugary, as they not only bloat but empty calories don’t keep you full for very long, causing you to eat more. Instead, turn to fiber-rich snacks, like fruits, vegetables and beans. Nuts, seeds, and whole grains help as well and will keep you fueled longer. (sul/wng)
