uitarist of New York garage rock revivalist band The Strokes, Albert Hammond Jr., has been scheduled to perform on the first day of the We The Fest music festival on July 18 at the Kemayoran fairgrounds.
We The Fest promoter Ismaya Live revealed that Hammond Jr. will play on the festival's main stage at 7:30 p.m.
His performance at We The Fest is his second stopover in Southeast Asia, after his gig in Kuala Lumpur on July 18.
Hammond Jr. will be one of the marquee names that appears on We The Fest's lineup for 2018. Other headliners include New Zealand's pop sensation Lorde, new American R&B act SZA and the United Kingdom's indie pop act Alt-J.
Meanwhile, local acts who will grace We The Fest's stages include Barasuara, Polka Wars, Efek Rumah Kaca and Kimokal.
Hammond Jr. is best known for lending his signature guitar riffs to The Strokes, which critics deem as pioneers of the indie rock movement in the US in the early aughts. Their debut album Is This It has been called one of the best rock albums of the new millennium.
