Five haunted house titles you should not watch alone A still from 'Hush' (Netflix/File)

S

treaming platform Netflix has added five new titles set in haunted houses. From ghosts to psychopaths, you can enjoy all the fear-inducing horrors the creative industry has to offer from the comfort of your own home.

According to the company's statement, these five titles are now available for viewing to satisfy your haunted-house craving:

1. The Haunting of Hill House

This title has already received many reviews from the online movie-junkie community. The symbolic nature of events that occur within the movie, and the time travel element, entwined with the afterlife-driven theme make the story more intricate than it first appears.

The Haunting of Hill House revolves around a family of five that move into a grand mansion that seems to not want to let go of whoever comes to live within it.

2. Open House

Directed by Mat Angel, this story follows the lives of a mother and her teenage son after a terrible car accident occurs, when they decide to move into a relative’s home. Many strange events occur, as the family appears to be stalked by something inside the house.

This home-invasion thriller, like The Haunting of Hill House, has already received many reviews online.

3. Hush

Though it came out in 2016, the cabin-in-the-woods theme is even more terrifying when the main character is deaf. You can enjoy the terrifying tale of deaf writer Maddie Young, played by Kate Siegel, as she struggles to survive without hearing a single thing.

4. The Conjuring 2

This is a rather well-known, long-running franchises to movie junkies, with the second installment focusing on a mother with four children, who is stalked by a supernatural figure in their own home. In this installment, Ed and Lorraine Warren make an appearance when disaster strikes, and both the Warrens and the family are in danger from occult forces.

5. American Horror Story: The Murder House

This installment of the series focuses on the Harmon family, starring Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton and Taissa Farmida. The family has just moved into a new house in Los Angeles from Boston, bringing their own brand of family drama and conflict with them. However, the former residents of the house they now reside in still seem to be around. (acr/kes)
