Two new director generals were sworn into the Foreign Ministry during a ceremony in Jakarta on Thursday.

Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda (right in above photo) installed Lutfi Rauf (front left) as director general for protocol and consular affairs and Retno L.P. Marsudi (second left) as director general for American and European affairs.

Lutfi was previously ambassador to Slovakia, and Retno was previously ambassador to Norway.

It is not clear what positions the respective former director generals, Handriyo Kusumo Priyo and Eddy Suryanto Hariyadhi Dwihardono, would take on.

During the same ceremony, Hassan also reshuffled several senior officials.

Ministry spokesman Kristiarto Legowo has been appointed as director of East Asian and Pacific affairs to replace Yuri Octavian Thamrin, who was recently appointed Indonesia's ambassador to the United Kingdom.

The new spokesman is Teuku Faizasyah, who recently completed his overseas tenure in South Africa.

Bunyan Saptomo, former consul general in Vancouver, Canada, was sworn in as director for North and Central American affairs.

Made Juniarta Sastrawan, former deputy chief of the mission in London, has been appointed as director for Western European affairs.
