JAKARTA: Success as a film producer and director has not kept Mira Lesmana, daughter of Indonesian jazz legend Jack Lesmana, from following the family tradition of making money from music.

Though not as famous as her film company Miles Production, Miles Music, the recording company she established last year, has produced three bands, including Garasi, which recently released its second album, appropriately titled Garasi II.

"This is only one of my small wings. You ask me why music? Well, my whole family are musicians," Mira, the sister of Indonesian Idol jury member and renowned jazz pianist Indra Lesmana, said as quoted by Antara.

Garasi is a rock band that takes its name from the title of Mira's 2006 film. It consists of the actors who starred in the movie: Ayu Ratna, Aries Budiman and Fedi Nuril, who also starred as a Muslim scholar in the hugely popular movie Ayat-Ayat Cinta (Love Verses).

Last year, Mira's recording company signed the band Float, which produced the soundtrack for her film 3 Hari untuk Selamanya (3 Days to Forever).

While the band Garasi may have released its second album, Mira says she has no plans to make a sequel to the movie.-- JP
