AKARTA: Bikers in Jakarta on Saturday, May 23, had fun on the TransJakarta Busway as for once they were allowed to carry their folding bikes with them on a tour in the bus.
Running between fX Lifestyle Center and Taman Menteng Pulo, the Tour de Busway program was a result of cooperation between TransJakarta, Peta Hijau Community, Id-Foldingbike Indonesia and Coca-Cola Cycling Community.
From 8 a.m., the bus took participants to visit historical green areas in the city, showing them that these areas were reachable by bike. It was also a program to let people see how coordinated integration between TransJakarta and folding-bikers could result in a new and healthier transportation trend.
"This, of course, won't run without government support and better supporting infrastructure like bicycle parking spaces and other things," said Aswar Kusuma, head of Id-Foldingbike Indonesia.
