The Cafe indulges diners all night long

S

ome fast-food restaurants in town offer a 24-hour service for customers who happen to crave bites late at night. But this cannot satisfy food enthusiasts who would like to savor a more varied choice of food.

At The Cafe people can enjoy a wide range of food at all hours of the day. The Cafe at Hotel Mulia Senayan, South Jakarta, offers food lovers the chance to make a "pit stop" on the way home from an all night club or late-night shopping spree.

The Cafe, used to be known by executives and professionals for its lunch buffet, now offers new touches, trying to attract a young clientele.

Bright colors like yellow, red, green and orange dominate the restaurant, replacing its former decor which was predominantly brown, beige and khaki.

The L-shaped space is divided into a series of smaller rooms, each inspired by five natural elements: Gold, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Water.

The changes in decor and color composition are just two of some adjustments The Cafe has made. It has more types of cuisines than ever before, welcoming all guests from Indonesia, the West, India, Japan and China.

Asian food lovers can go to the Asian and Middle Eastern section. Hues of gold are used to depict the rich and bold characteristics of the Asian culture.

The traditional Chinese noodle bowl concept and inscribed Chinese wording adorn the counter.

Another element in the area is the beech oven, which stands tall at approximately four meters high and is delicately encrusted with platinum and bronze mosaic tiles.

Among the Chinese dishes on offer in the section are Peking duck and choices of dim sum, while the Middle Eastern section has shawarma, samosa, martabak (pancake with minced beef or lamb), roti prata and even Indian pizza.

If you hanker for Indonesian cuisine, you can try something from the Indonesian food section, which will offer a different menu every day, including Padang and Javanese food.

Japanese food is available in the Japanese section, which is represented with wood elements. The use of natural materials, such as wood and stone, strengthens the natural ambiance.

Once you step into the counter, it feels like you are standing under the big sakura or cherry blossoms tree with its long solid branches, accentuating the Japanese culture and values.

While Japanese section offers warm and natural nuances, the Western section brings more passion, as red and yellow dominate the materials in the area, representing the Fire element.

Uniquely rose-patterned wall add the finishing touches to the space. In the Western counter, you can grab your choice of delicious pasta or steaks.

If main courses are too heavy, you can just have lavish coffees and light snacks in the lifestyle section, which is themed with the Earth element.

Shades of green and yellow brighten up the space, while elements of the sunflower create the cheeriness to the room.

Meanwhile, people with sweet teeth can drop by at the pastry section, which offers plenty of desserts to choose from.

For this Ramadan, The Cafe's pantry counter has a nice surprise to indulge its customers in refreshing dessert through its very own frozen yogurt, called "Sweet Mimi".

The name Mimi was taken from the hotel's latest mascot, a pretty little mouse called "Mademoiselle Mulia" or Mimi.

It seems like the hotel doesn't want to miss out on the frozen yogurt craze that has been sprung up in the city in the past two years.

"The hotel management specifically launches Sweet Mimi this month, as a sort of a Ramadan Surprise," said Adeza Hamzah, the hotel's assistant director of communications.

Besides plain yogurt, which is available seven days a week, yogurt lovers can also enjoy fruity-flavored yogurt (one special flavor per day), varying from strawberry, mango, raspberry, passion fruit, sour cherry and peach.

There are more than 30 toppings to complement the sour sweetness of the Sweet Mimi. The toppings include crisped rice, sultana, almond flakes, rock melon fruit, brownies cubes, dried apricot, fresh strawberry, macadamia nut, walnut, coco rice and dried cherry.

Want to taste the Sweet Mimi but have no time to sit for a whole buffet meal? No need to worry because the yogurt is also available for takeaway. It is a perfect tidbit for the businessmen or hotel guests who are "on-the-go".
