Comment: Yusril faces life imprisonment

June 28, Online: Former justice and human rights minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra and businessman Hartono Tanoesoedibjo are facing life imprisonment for their alleged roles in a graft case involving a government website. The Attorney General Office’s special crimes investigations chief, Arminsyah, said Monday the two suspects had allegedly violated the 1999 Law on Corruption, which carries a minimum penalty of life imprisonment and a maximum penalty of death.

“Life in prison” I doubt so. Once the media circus dies down, they’ll probably pay their way out again quietly: pointless and meaningless exercise. Follow China’s lead and Indonesia will progress at a faster rate!
