AKARTA: Private airline PT Lion Air plans to open seven new international routes next year following the delivery
of its new Boeing 737-900 ERs this year. “With the new aircraft, we will be able to expand our flight services
both at home and abroad,” Lion Air general affairs manager Edward Sirait said in Jakarta on Monday.
As of next year, the airline will fly to India, China, and Australia, he said. The company plans to use its new Boeing 737-900 ER for these services, Edward said. “We don’t need to use wide-body aircraft.”
Lion Air currently serves passengers traveling to several international destinations, namely Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). — JP
