he National Demography and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) will continue to strengthen its partnership with the Indonesian Military (TNI) as part of its efforts to improve the Indonesian family planning program, especially in remote areas and cross-border provinces, the agency’s chairman said.

BKKBN chairman Sugiri Syarief said on Monday that the TNI was committed to supporting the country’s family planning program by, among others things, distributing contraceptives and health facilities direly needed by couples living in remote areas and cross-border provinces.

“We may improve the National Military’s strong network throughout the country, including its thousands of soldiers which spread across entire regions,” he said on the sidelines of the 2011 national coordination meeting on the demographic development and family planning program at the TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta. — JP
