Signature design: Models showcase Charriol's latest watches and jewelries in Jakarta.
The international watch and jewelry maker Charriol has released new collections -- each crafted with the brand's signature artistry.
The brand's international visual director Alexandre Charriol said the design follows the latest trend.
'We have to give people what they want. We'll always do innovative new pieces, but [our customers] don't want anything crazy. Simple and elegant ' our customers aren't looking for an extravagant life,' he told The Jakarta Post during Charriol's high tea session in Jakarta.
'They want a life that's attainable and [things that] make them feel good.'
Set up in 1983 by French entrepreneur Philippe Charriol in Geneva, Charriol is a global brand of timepieces, fine jewelry and accessories, with signature motifs including the Celtic Collection and the iconic Celts-inspired twisted cable design.
Early on in the creation of his brand, Philippe was inspired by a visit to the British Museum, where he was enthralled by the Snetisham Torque ' an excellent example of early Iron Age Celtic metalwork.
Wanting to pay homage to this great legacy, he later developed its own interpretation of this ancient design. The motif was reworked via new technologies and materials.
Today, Charriol's 'twisted cable' design, globally patented and recognized as a brand hallmark, is employed in a multitude of applications ' from timepieces, jewelry, writing instruments, eyewear to leather goods.
The design appears as a pretty adornment around a bezel, watchcase or worked into a stylish strap. Crafted from stainless steel and titanium alloys, the unique cable is touted as the essence of Charriol's DNA.
Eight jewelry lines and six timepieces were introduced in Jakarta.
In the jewelry division ' designed by Alexandre's sister Coralie Charriol-Paul ' the brand showcases '100 Ways to Love', 'Just Once', 'Cherie Amour' and 'Heart2Heart' collections to celebrate romance in a symphony of a pretty hearts and precious stones.
A baroque spirit infuses 'Pearls' ' a new collection that marries renaissance-style opalescent gems with contemporary braided cables ' while 'Forever Young' takes Charriol firmly back into the present, echoing fashion's current love affair with all things urban as seen in its studded embellishment.
Other collections, 'Braided' and 'Celtic', celebrate Charriol's enduring cable motif, offering a modern take on the artistry of the ancient Celtic traditions.
Charriol timepieces are Swiss-made watches ' all hand-assembled in the brand's watch-making atelier in Geneva. Each timepiece is characterized by its qualities of precision, quality, luxury and authenticity.
Charriol also presents a new Colvmbvs Grande Date GMT, which builds on the success of the model launched last year. Formerly only available in limited series of just 300 pieces, the Grande Date GMT now comes with several styles and various dials.
For masculine and sporty men, Charriol offers Gran Celtica, created as a tribute to a fast-paced world and inspired by motor racing's skill and precision.
Three of the timepieces are specially designed for women. They are the customizable St-Tropez 'Style', which celebrates women's empowerment through a series of meaningful clips and bracelets; St-Tropez 'Secrets' that reflects the fun and glitz of the French resort and contains a hidden surprise; and, AEL ' named after the Celtic word for 'angel' ' for young customers.
Alexandre is in charge of revamping the St-Tropez collection.
'St-Tropez has become our bread and butter for 30 years. Until I arrived, it had stayed the same for 30 years. For a new generation, we couldn't let this watch die, so we put some components onto the watch that could be interchanged,' said the man, who is the brand founder's son.
'This year we're adapting the Pandora mentality of accessorizing the watch instead of jewelry. We're the only company in the world in accessorizing the watch.'
Antoine Lecomte of Jamasia Infinite Luxury, the brand's official distributor in Indonesia, said St-Tropez's 'Secret' ' which comes with Charriol's signature twisted cable design and pretty chain bracelet attached to the strap, comes in three variants. It is also adorned with three engraved messages ' 'Je t'aime', 'Amour' and 'Love' ' that glow in the dark.
'The items will encourage [men] to be romantic. It is a perfect item to send a message to someone they love, you know, there are some men who find it difficult to say these words ' [giving 'Secret' as a gift] is an indirect way of saying it,' Lacomte says.
