akarta Governor andpresident-elect Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said former Jakarta Transportation Agencyhead Udar Pristono had abused his position during the procurement of Transjakarta buses.
'It's like if I ask you to buy good quality soap but then you come back with inferior soap,' Jokowi told journalists at City Hall in Central Jakarta on Thursday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
His comments came in response to a statement by Udar, made when he was detained by prosecutors, saying that he had worked very hard to assist Jokowi but had been rewarded with prosecution.
Jokowi gave his assurances that he would not interfere with the ongoing investigation into Udar's conduct, suggesting Udar was now on his own.
Prosecutors from the Attorney General's Office's (AGO) special crimes division recently arrested Udar and the director of industry technology and transportation systems at the Agency of Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), Prawoto, for their roles in allegedly marking up the price of Transjakarta buses.(dic)
