olkar Party official Agun Gunandjar Sudarsa says that his party does not object to the attendance of representatives of the United Development Party (PPP) and the National Mandate Party (PAN) at the fourth national meeting of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) in Semarang, Central Java, on Friday.
Newly elected PPP chairman Emron Pangkapi, along with his deputy secretary Ihsa Muhsi, arrived at the national meeting at 2 p.m. Meanwhile, PAN was represented by its secretary-general, Taufik Kurniawan, who was accompanied by the party's executives, Tjatur Sapto Edi and Drajat Wibowo.
Agun, who is also chairman of House of Representatives Commission II overseeing home affairs, said that the attendance of PPP and PAN officials would not compromise the unity of the Gerindra Party-led Red-and-White Coalition, in which PAN, PPP and Golkar are members.
'The Red-and-White Coalition remains solid. PPP and PAN will not join the [Jokowi-led] Cabinet,' he said on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
Desmond J. Mahesa, a member of Gerindra's executive board, previously said that the Red-and-White Coalition was in a vulnerable state as some members of losing presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto's group showed signals that they may jump ship to the PDI-P led coalition. (alz/nfo)(++++)
