T

he body of a baby boy was found on the banks of thePengayoman River near Jl. Pramuka Sari, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, onThursday.

Cempaka Putih Police Office chief Adj. Comr. Supriyadi said on Friday that when found, the baby was wrapped in a cloth and inside a cardboard box.

'€œThe baby was found by a local resident. The placenta was still attached to the body,'€ he said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

According to the chief, the baby was found when 25-year-old resident Nur was strolling on the road on Thursday morning and she became suspicious of the box on the bank.

'€œNur then called another person near the incident site to help her open the box,'€ he said.

Supriyadi said the police were then called.

'€œWe brought the baby to Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital for autopsy,'€ he said.

He added that the police were still searching for the baby'€™s parents.
