ieces of a human bodysuspected to be a victim of mutilation were found in a retention pond in Genukdistrict, Semarang city, Central Java.
The pieces were initially found in a plastic bag by children as they were playing around the site on Friday last week. Locals only learned about the children's discovery on Thursday and then reported it to the police.
Police collected the eight body parts that same day and then drained the five-meter-deep pond to find scattered bones. They have not found the head of the victim.
'We will further examine the bones and the pieces of the body. Currently we cannot yet make any conclusions,' Genuk Police chief Adj. Comr. Ifan Taufik said at the crime scene on Friday.
He said the police announced the finding through the local mosque's loudspeaker, but no one has come forward to claim having lost a family member.
