rench luxury cosmetics and perfume house Lancôme announced on Thursday the appointment of three female socialites as their new ambassadors to boost sales among younger customers.
The three brand ambassadors are harpist and doctor Mesty Ariotedjo, who is active in social causes, notable fashion designer Stella Rissa and Alexandra Asmasoebrata, Indonesia's first professional Formula racer.
'These Mesdemoiselles Lancôme, as we call our new brand ambassadors, represent young and modern Indonesian women,' said Silvia Yohana, luxury division general manager at L'Oreal, the parent company of Lancôme.
Lancôme brand manager Agustina Mulya said the three ambassadors were picked for their obvious achievements in their respective careers.
'An international designer with amazing work, a sportswoman who breaks through boundaries and a social activist with musical talents -- we want to show how Indonesian young ladies are amazing,' she said, referring to Stella, Mesty and Alexandra.
Agustina said that Stella was picked because of her chic, modern designs that had a feminine touch that went well with the Lancôme brand image.
Stella said she used Lancôme because the brand was feminine and stylish, similar with her own designs. 'Lancôme has been a part of my essential daily do's and the application of it in the past four and a half years has shown the result in an everlasting youth,' she said.
The young designer mentioned how the cosmetics hid her true age well, garnering a ring of laughter from the audience.
Meanwhile, Alexandra said she liked Lancôme products for their easy application and how they fit her hectic and sweaty work.
'I am fairly new in this beauty product world and I'm certainly the type of person who doesn't know anything until people mention it to me, but with Lancôme I find how important it is for us girls to start taking care of ourselves. We should start now, because with beauty comes happiness,' the racer said.
The brand ambassadors were introduced to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Lancôme's most prestigious product, the Advanced Genifique Youth Concentrate line. The product line includes Genefique Yeux: Youth Activating Eye Cream and Genefique Yeux: Light Pearl.
Agustina said girls as young as 17 years old could start use the Genefique line. She said the products were not anti-aging creams, but age-lock creams to secure the image of an everlasting youth before the obvious signs of age came into view. (tah/nvn) (+++)
