AKARTA: Mohammed Kamga, member of pop vocal group Dekat '€” formerly known as Tangga '€” is considering going over to indie as the best way to produce and distribute the group'€™s music.

'€œI still think this is the best way of doing it. We have yet to see a major Indonesian label. Our music, according to us, is not really market-friendly. Until we have a fully major label, like they do abroad, I think indie is the best option,'€ Kamga said in Jakarta as quoted by kompas.com.

As Tangga, the quartet signed with a major label. When they changed their name to Dekat, which now comprises three singers: Kamga, Tahir '€œTata'€ Hadiwijoyo and Chevrina Anayang, the trio went for indie.
Kamga said one of the consequences of turning indie was the lower capacity to promote their new album, also titled Lahir Kembali (Reborn).

'€œWe basically go door-to-door to promote Dekat. We are enjoying this slow process. We don'€™t want to go slow but it is what it is, so we enjoy it,'€ he said.
