T

he Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency is set to hostthe Jakarta Cosplay Parade, with the theme, '€œRising of an Indonesian Legend'€,which is being organized to celebrate pop culture.

The Jakarta Cosplay Parade is scheduled to take place on Nov. 2 at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta.

'€œThe event is being held to provide a channel for pop artists, particularly cosplayers, to show off their creativity and innovation, as well as promoting Jakarta as a tourist destination,'€ agency head Arie Budhiman said at City Hall on Friday.

While cosplay was initially popularized in Japan, the Jakarta Cosplay Parade will include characters from local tales, including Carok, Gundala Putra Petir, Gatot Kaca and Pandawa Lima (Yudistira, Bima, Nakula, Sadewa and Arjuna).
