he Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jakarta chapter presentedawards to 450 blood donors in appreciation for their donations, according to aPMI official. Rini Sutiyoso from PMI Jakarta said the awards went to those whohad donated 50 times this year.
'Donating blood is a form of caring for each other. We have to respect people who have donated their blood,' she said on Saturday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
She said that the awards were also related to the celebration of the anniversary of the PMI, which falls on Sept. 17.
Donors who had donated blood 75 times this year would receive awards from the city governor; those who had donated up to 100 times would get awards from the President, she said.
She said PMI had managed to collect 381,000 bags of blood this year, surpassing its minimum target of 300,000 bags. (alz/dic)
