he South Jakarta Police are continuing their investigation into a deadly car crash in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta by examining the conditions of the suspect's SUV and psychological state.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Martinus Sitompul said on Monday that the black Mitsubishi Outlander driven by 23-year-old suspect Christopher Daniel Sjarif was examined by the police and PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors, Mitsubishi brand distributor in Indonesia.
According to Martinus, the car's condition would be able to provide information about the incident.
'The car has a chip that recorded the incident. We will find out the car's speed or if the car malfunctioned that night,' Martinus told reporters at the Jakarta Police headquarters.
Martinus added that police were also conducting a psychological test on Christopher to 'get the suspect's profile'.
Last week, Christopher allegedly lost control of his SUV on Jl. Sultan Iskandar Muda in South Jakarta and crashed into six motorcyclists and two cars on the congested street.
Wisnu Anggoro, Mustopa and Mahyudi Herman were killed on the scene, while First Insp. Batang Oenang died later at Fatmawati Hospital in South Jakarta. Two victims remain in critical condition and two others were injured in the accident.
Prior to the incident, the suspect was reportedly with a friend, Muhammad Ali Husni Riza, at a coffee shop at Pacific Place shopping mall in South Jakarta. They left in Ali's car, driven by Ali's driver, Ahmad Sandi.
On the way home, Ali got out and asked Ahmad to drive Christopher home. Not long afterward, Christopher asked Ahmad to let him drive, before forcing him to get out of the car at an underpass.
An initial examination showed Christopher had consumed lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) three hours before the incident.
South Jakarta Police drugs unit chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Hando Wibowo said the complete results of Christopher's drug test had not been released by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) but that the National Police forensic lab and the South Jakarta Police head would announce the test results as soon as they received them.
Meanwhile, BNN spokesperson Sr. Comr. Sumirat said the drugs test results of Christopher and Ali were submitted to the police a few days ago.
'The results have has been submitted to the police. We will not announce the results because the case is under police jurisdiction,' Sumirat told The Jakarta Post.
Separately, Christopher's lawyer, Agus Salim, said his client would provide compensation to the crash victims.
However, Agus said he had yet to be informed of the victim's demands, but emphasized that his client would not avoid his obligations to the victims.
