Adidas denies connection to closed factory

T Adidas Indonesia clarified in a statement that a garment factory in Batam, Riau Islands, which was reported to manufacture Adidas-brand apparel, was not part of the brand'€™s official holding company.

Ivon Liesmana, senior manager for brand activation at PT Adidas Indonesia, said that garment factory PT Yee Woo, operating in the Tunas Industrial Zone in Batam, Riau Islands province, was not a member of the Adidas Global or Adidas Indonesia manufacturing and supply chain.

'€œThe mentioned company has never been involved with Adidas Global or Adidas Indonesia,'€ Ivan stated further.

PT Yee Woo, which had operated since 2005, was shut down by its management without prior notice and has reportedly discontinued operations and abandoned 305 employees.
