Coordinating Economic Minister Sofyan Djalil was a little disappointed when his translator lost the thread at a seminar with 200 or so investors from South Korea.
'I don't know what language to use, whether Indonesian or English. Unfortunately, the translation is disappointing. This is what's called lost in translation,' Sofyan said at a CEO gathering at the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) on Wednesday.
In the end, Sofyan chose to speak in English, as he worried the interpreter could not translate his speech.
'I prefer speaking English [rather] than Indonesian, because I don't know whether he can translate what I am saying in Indonesian. It will be more disappointing if there's another 'loss',' Sofyan said.
