oreign Minister Retno Marsudi has said Indonesia's humanitarian aid for victims of a recent 7.9-magnitude earthquake in Nepal is a form of solidarity called for during the Asia-Africa Conference.
'One of the issues raised in the conference was solidarity among Asian and African countries. Through this aid we are showing solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Nepal,' he said as quoted by Antara at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The minister was speaking on the sidelines of the dispatch of the Indonesian evacuation and humanitarian team to Nepal. The team comprises 69 people from the Foreign Ministry, the Indonesian Military (TNI), the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and several social organizations.
Among the team members are 19 medical workers, including two general physicians from the TNI, two anesthetic specialists and two orthopedic specialists.
The Indonesian government also sent post-disaster emergency needs, such as tents, blankets, medicine, medical equipment and ready-to-serve foods.

'The Indonesian government and people will stand together with the Nepalese government and people in these hard times,' she said.
