T

he Law and Human Rights Ministry'€™s North Sumatra office has taken into custody 24 foreigners, including two Australians, for failing to show permits allowing them to live in Indonesia.

The head of the office'€™s immigration division, M. Diah, said that one of the two Australians had already been deported, while the other one was still being processed.

'€œProbably all the rest of them will be sent home next week,'€ Diah told The Jakarta Post, on Sunday.

He said his office had coordinated with their respective embassies to go through the deportation processes and have the expenses paid.

The remaining 22 foreigners, Diah said, comprised seven Malaysians, five Chinese, two Filipinos, three Thais, two South Koreans and three North Koreans. They were detained in three different detention centers in Medan, Belawan and Pematang Siantar.
