Clarification and apology to Romli Atmasasmita

We hereby wish to clarify that the use of the description “one-time graft convict” for Romli Atmasasmita in the third paragraph of the news story entitled “Govt under scrutiny as it picks KPK screening team members” on page 4 of the April 6 edition of The Jakarta Post, and a similar term in the title of the news story headlined “Ex-graft convict to lead screening team” on page 8 of the April 30 edition, were inappropriate

In December 2010, a Supreme Court verdict overturned his sentence.

We, therefore, express our deepest apology to Romli Atmasasmita for the inconvenience caused by the use of the inappropriate terms above.
