Police reenact Abraham Samad case

T

he South Sulawesi Police'€™s investigation team reenacted on Sunday an ID forgery case allegedly involving Abraham Samad, the non-active Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman, and a woman identified as Feriyani Lim, at the Panakukkang district office in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

Acting South Sulawesi Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Hariadi said the police held the reenactment to complete evidence materials needed for the case'€™s dossiers.

'€œThis reenactment is a technical part of the investigation, and the investigative team needs it to complete a part of the case'€™s dossiers deemed incomplete, namely evidence materials. That'€™s why, today, the investigative team is holding a reenactment,'€ said Hariadi on Sunday.

Last week, the South Sulawesi Prosecutor'€™s Office returned the dossiers on Samad and Feriyani'€™s case to the South Sulawesi Police'€™s investigative team as it considered the dossiers not incisive and incomplete, both in formal and material requirements. One of the parts in the case'€™s dossiers the police needed to complete was on evidence materials.

Neither Abraham nor Feriyani were present in the reenactment. The police involved three witnesses in the reenactment, which lasted two hours. They were Imran Samad, Abraham'€™s older brother who served as Panakukkang district chief when the suspect processed a family card that Feriyani reportedly later used to extend her passport at the immigration office in Makassar in 2007.

The two other witnesses were the Panakukkang district office'€™s staff members responsible for the issuance of the family card and ID card.

The investigative team involved two South Sulawesi Police members to represent Abraham and Feriyani for the reenactment, which comprised 29 scenes. (ebf)
