Greater Jakarta: Kompolnas probing cops who handled JIS case

T

he National Police Commission (Kompolnas) is investigating the police officers who handled the controversial child sexual abuse case involving the Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS).

'€œWe have received inquiries from the public about alleged irregularities by law enforcers in processing the case. We have investigated the investigators, but have yet to announce the results,'€ commissioner Hamidah Abdurrahman said in a forum on Wednesday.

Forensic doctor Ferryal Basbeth, who testified as an expert during the case trial, told reporters that her team saw conflicting medical check-up records issued by the different hospitals that examined the victims and suspects.

Meanwhile, Kasandra Putranto of the Indonesia Forensic Psychology Association added that her organization had previously told the police to use their independent psychologists to elicit information from the children during the investigation, but they ignored the suggestion.
