he Supreme Court has ruled in favor of prosecutors in the case of the murder of college student Ade Sara Angelina Suroto, sentencing Imam Al Hafitd and Assyifa Ramadhani to life imprisonment.
In an announcement published on the court's official website on Thursday, Supreme Court justices Dudu D. Machmudin, Margono and Andi Abu Ayyub Saleh approved an appeal against the convicted couple filed by Central Jakarta District Court prosecutors on July 9.
Hafidt and his former girlfriend Assyifa were sentenced to 20 years in prison for premeditated murder by the district court's panel of judges in December.
The couple were found guilty of committing the murder of Ade Sara, whose body was found beside the Bintara highway. The case gained extensive public exposure last year.
