The Gerindra Party has rejected the 2016 state budget bill during the House of Representatives plenary meeting on Friday, making it the only party at the meeting that disagreed with the draft.
The Gerindra Party said it was particularly opposed to the allocation of Rp 39 trillion of state capital injection (PMN) for a number of state-owned enterprises as it said the allocation was not in line with the interest of the Indonesian people.
According to Gerindra, such capital injection into state-owned enterprises means that the Indonesian people would have to subsidize state-owned enterprises.
'For how long will state-owned enterprises keep being supported by state budget funds? The government should evaluate this regulation,' House deputy speaker Fadli Zon from the Gerindra Party told thejakartapost.com after the plenary session on Friday.
The party also criticized several points in connection with the 2016 state budget draft, saying that the content was not consistent with the government's objective in developing the country and improving the prosperity of its citizens.
Gerindra Party lawmaker Eddy Prabowo criticized the meager allocation for the Environment Ministry, only Rp 6.3 trillion, nearly half of the Rp. 12 trillion initially proposed.
Muhammad Syafi'I, another party lawmaker, said that although the government had declared an emergency on child sexual abuse, it had only allocated Rp 500 billion for the state child protection agency.
Another Gerindra Party politician, Samson asserted that the 2016 state budget draft did not comply with law no. 17/2003 on State Treasury, particularly with respect to transparency on drafting and targeted sources of funding for the state budget.
'Thus, in our faction's view, 2016 state budget draft is unconstitutional. We refuse to pass this draft into an official law,' Samson said. (bbn)(+)
