Boomer App to help SMEs with digital marketing

S-based mobile app Boomer Marketing is upbeat about the future success of its service in Indonesia. The company has already received a positive response from domestic small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs).

The mobile app claims that around 450-500 Indonesian smartphone users have signed up to its service every day following the company'€™s initial launch in October and most of those signing up are small and medium enterprise owners.

The app was designed to help SMEs across the globe, including in Indonesia, interact and net potential customers online. The service includes steps on how to build websites and provides simpler digital communication platforms between the business and the customer.

Boomer chief business officer Srini Valluripalli said Indonesia was the first country outside the US to enjoy the app. He said this was due to Indonesia owning the world'€™s highest number of operating SMEs, numbering at around 52 million.

This December, the company made their app available in Bahasa Indonesia after months of localization efforts by the company.

'€œWe are targeting to capture at least 20 to 30 percent of the total amount of SMEs in Indonesia to use our app over the next three to four months. We do have aggressive targets and we will work through whatever mechanism we can to achieve them,'€ Srini said recently.

In October, Boomer CEO Arun Gadiraju confidently said that the Texas-based app would help grow Indonesian SMEs by providing them with easy-to-understand technology and by helping SMEs manage their web and social presence.

Some of the measures that Boomer plans carry out to achieve their ambitious target include forging partnerships with local online marketplaces such as Bukalapak.com and deepening their cooperation with telecommunications companies.

The app initially partnered with telecommunications operator 3 (Tri) in its October launch to help with the communication and digital payment aspects of the service. With the service, SMEs can build their own websites without the need to code. Furthermore, SMEs are able to interact directly with customers through a specialized message service on the SME'€™s Boomer-built website.

Customers wishing to communicate with SMEs using Boomer-made sites do not need to have the app to do so. The app is available for free download from the Apple Store and from the Google Play app store.

Boomer has also forged partnerships with three other Indonesian telecommunications companies, namely XL Axiata, Indosat Ooredoo and Telkomsel, to help out with online and digital payment services.

Srini explained that the initiatives were instigated to offer SMEs that do not possess knowledge of online payment methods with alternative methods of payment for their customers and also for their business operations.

'€œThese partnerships will enable a better financial efficiency for SMEs so that they can effectively grow their company further,'€ he said.

Meanwhile, the company has outlined its global roadmap for 2016 and beyond. The company plans to expand into 100 more countries, including several countries in Southeast Asia such as the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. It also plans to expand into five countries in the Middle East by 2016.
