Guess what?: New kidney for Abdee Slank

J

AKARTA: Abdee Negara, the guitarist from legendary rock band Slank, has a special plan for the New Year: a kidney transplant.

'€œGod willing, Abdee will go into surgery in January and he will then take one full year of rest. He will be absent from Slank for two years,'€ said drummer Bimbim as quoted by kapanlagi.com on Saturday.

Abdee did not show up for the band'€™s 32nd anniversary celebration on Dec. 26.

According to Bimbim, Abdee has had to take dialysis three times a week after been diagnosed with kidney failure earlier this year.

Abdee, 47, has been in charge of Slank'€™s sound engineering and songwriting since he joined the band in 1997. He is also known as producer and an activist for the rights of musicians.
