JAKARTA: Abdee Negara, the guitarist from legendary rock band Slank, has a special plan for the New Year: a kidney transplant
AKARTA: Abdee Negara, the guitarist from legendary rock band Slank, has a special plan for the New Year: a kidney transplant.
'God willing, Abdee will go into surgery in January and he will then take one full year of rest. He will be absent from Slank for two years,' said drummer Bimbim as quoted by kapanlagi.com on Saturday.
Abdee did not show up for the band's 32nd anniversary celebration on Dec. 26.
According to Bimbim, Abdee has had to take dialysis three times a week after been diagnosed with kidney failure earlier this year.
Abdee, 47, has been in charge of Slank's sound engineering and songwriting since he joined the band in 1997. He is also known as producer and an activist for the rights of musicians.
