umparan aims to redefine Indonesian media by presenting a collaborative media platform that combines online news with social media concepts, an executive has said.
“We are reviewing the trends where consumers and advertisers are going,” Andrias Ekoyuono, chief marketing officer of Kumparan.com told The Jakarta Post on Monday.
As times change, Andrias said, new generations are consuming online content differently, calling for new practices and methodologies in the local media game. Technology is longer only a support pillar, but instead needs to act as the foundation of online journalism across the nation.

Andrias said Kumparan had become Indonesia’s first hybrid online news site to use social media technology as its core driver. The startup aims to disrupt the archipelago’s online media space, which the co-founders believe has not evolved in the past two decades, he added
“Kumparan has received its first round of funding from undisclosed investors in the region,” he asserted, adding that the startup was backed by renowned executives who have built up Indonesia’s largest online media players. (dan)
