View all search resultsfire struck a four-story ruko (shop house) on Jl. Wijaya II in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, in the early hours of Friday. The fire was allegedly caused by an electrical short-circuit, an official has said.
“We assume the fire was sparked by an electrical short-circuit caused by a malfunctioning cash register machine on the ground floor,” said Irwan, head of the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, on Friday as quoted by beritajakarta.id. No casualties have been reported.
Irwan said the agency sent six fire trucks and 11 water pumps to put out the fire.
“We were lucky the fire didn’t spread to nearby buildings,” Irwan said. He added that the agency had successfully extinguished the fire by 4:50 a.m. (kuk)
