resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has condemned the mass shooting in Las Vegas, US, on Sunday night that killed 59 killed people and wounded 500.
“We condemn such an act of terror that left so many people dead and wounded,” said Jokowi in Cibubur, East Jakarta, on Tuesday, according to Antara.
The President also offered, on behalf of the state and the people of Indonesia, his deepest condolences.
“I believe the government of the US is strong in the face of such a terror act” Jokowi said.
Stephen Craig Paddock, a 64-year-old retired accountant, opened fire at a country music concert in Las Vegas from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.
Las Vegas police said the gunman was found dead, allegedly of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, when a police SWAT team burst into his hotel room, AFP reported.
The FBI said they saw “no connection” between Paddock and international terror groups, leaving a stunned nation at a loss to understand the motive for the massacre.

As of Tuesday, no Indonesians were reported among the casualties, said the Indonesian Foreign Ministry.
The Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles has continued to coordinate with Indonesians living in the US as well as local hospitals, the ministry added.
There are currently are 541 Indonesians living in Nevada.
