ctor and former politician Raden Mas Heroe Syswanto Ns. Soerio Soebagio, popularly known as Sys NS, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 61 at Pondok Indah Hospital, Jakarta.
Sys’ wife, Shanty Widhiyanti, broke the news through a short message circulated online.
“Innalillahi wainnailaihi raji’uun [What belongs to God will return to Him]. Our beloved Sys NS passed away on Tuesday,” she wrote in the message, as reported by kompas.com.
Sys was known as a senior actor, broadcaster and politician. His career in the entertainment world rocketed when he hosted a radio show on Prambors radio station with comedians Pepeng, Krisna and Nana Krip in the 1980s called “Sersan Prambors.”
Sys entered politics in 1999 as a member of the People’s Consultative Assembly. In 2001, he cofounded the Democratic Party. However, he resigned from the party in 2005.
Sys was also a screenwriter, director and comedian throughout his career.
