span style="letter-spacing: 0.1px;">South Jakarta Mayor Marullah Matali has said that the development of the new Mampang Prapatan subdistrict office has been put on hold as the municipal administration tries to find an alternative location, following a dispute over the originally designated site.

The administration had planned to build the new district office on a plot of land on Jl. Bangka II, but the plan was scrapped after a local resident claimed ownership of the plot.

”We are trying to find another location [for the office],” Marullah said as quoted by kompas.com on Tuesday.

He stressed that Mampang Prapatan district desperately needed a new office, because its current location on Jl. Mampang Prapatan XII was prone to flooding. Marullah promised to propose an alternative site next year.

Jakarta Secretary Saefullah previously expressed his concerns regarding the low budget absorption capacity of the city’s regional working units (SKPD), including  South Jakarta municipality.

“The report is very bad,” Saefullah told the press on Tuesday, noting that rehabilitating and renovating city buildings was listed among the administration’s budgetary programs. (vla)
