Smaller office spaces are projected to see higher demand this year as firms seek to implement cost-saving measures while coping with changes in the working trend.
usinesses in Jakarta are seeking to reduce their office size, leading to higher demand for smaller office spaces, according to property consultancy firm Colliers.
Reducing office size is a strategy for businesses to implement cost-saving measures and optimize office space based on the number of employees present, leading to increased efficiency, Colliers said.
Banks, pharmaceuticals, foreign exchange brokers, textile and logistics businesses, social media and mining companies, are among those to be expected to take the move with these groups to remain showing interest in acquiring office spaces, albeit in small areas.
“Most companies have already downsized [their employees] and may not be able to immediately revert as before,” Colliers Indonesia Head of Research, Ferry Salanto said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The current workplace strategy is more focused on optimizing office space,” he added.
