Some of the country's top business lobbies met the President to negotiate various issues ranging from mobility restrictions (PPKM) to the new capital city in East Kalimantan.
ver a dozen business lobbyists met President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his aides on Wednesday, negotiating for more favorable policies, as businesses reel from the economic pinch of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a published photo, at least 13 people representing various associations attended the meeting, including Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman Arsjad Rasjid, Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) chairman Hariyadi Sukamdani and Association of Young Indonesian Businesspeople (Hipmi) chairman Mardani H. Maming, the three of which are among the country’s most powerful business lobbies.
Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto told reporters after the meeting in Jakarta that attendees discussed a wide variety of topics, including the new capital city, mobility restrictions (PPKM), loan restructuring policy, logistical problems and fiscal assistance for retailers.
He said the government promised to gather freight operators to address rising logistics costs, and would review music royalty regulations, loosen franchise regulations and consider additional fiscal facilities for the retail sector.
The President, he continued, took note that businesses expected the Financial Services Authority’s (OJK) recent loan restructuring extension to be implemented properly to help small businesses and corporations alike.
“The President will ask ministries to review and adjust the regulation,” Airlangga told reporters after the meeting in Jakarta.
