Airbus has introduced new couch-style seating for its business class.
In collaboration with Italian seat manufacturer Geven, the “Settee Corner” design allows passengers to recline lounge-style or sleep as if on a couch, as reported by Travel and Leisure.
Based on an economy-class three-seater configuration, the design includes the usual amenities, such as stowage space, overhead locker, entertainment screen and tray table.

A safety belt is provided at the end of the seat for takeoff and landing, with a second safety belt to be used during sleeping.
According to CNN, the chair is 30 to 50 percent lighter than a traditional business class seat. The mockups for the seat are 185 centimeters in length, the same as traditional business class seats in Airbus planes.
The couch-style seats were first introduced at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2019 (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany. (sop/wng)
