ational flag carrier Garuda Indonesia introduced a new safety video titled “Keindahan Indonesia” (The Beauty of Indonesia) on Wednesday at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Central Jakarta.
The safety video can be viewed on the airline’s audio-video on-demand (AVOD) system, replacing a previous video created in 2012.
Garuda Indonesia president director Ari Askhara said in a statement that the new video aimed to educate passengers about safety as well as promote Indonesian tourism to the world.
The video, which includes a sign language interpreter, opens with a rumah gadang (a traditional Minangkabau house) from Padang, West Sumatra. It then brings viewers to various destinations, including Mount Bromo in East Java, Jatiluwih rice terraces in Bali, Tana Toraja in South Sulawesi and Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara.

In addition to the country’s natural landscapes, the safety video also spotlights a number of Indonesia’s cultural heritage, such as tari piring (plate dance) and traditional weaving equipment.
Modern vehicles are featured in the video as well, namely the Mini Cooper Countryman 4WD, Renault Twizy electric car and BMW motorcycle, as part of the carrier's collaboration with authorized auto dealer PT Maxindo International Nusantara. (jes/kes)
