Bank for International Settlements (BIS) general manager Agustín Carstens said the Indonesian presidency of this year’s Group of 20 (G20) managed to capture the challenges facing countries amid the global recovery.
The agenda of the Indonesian Group of 20 (G20) presidency touches on the right issues to foster a global economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).
BIS general manager Agustín Carstens said the “recover together, recover stronger” motto of the Indonesian G20 presidency was “perfect” as it reflected what the world needed at the moment.
“The emphasis on 'recovery' is of the essence,” Carstens, who served as the governor of the Bank of Mexico between 2010 and 2017, told The Jakarta Post in a video interview on Feb. 8.
“And the emphasis on 'together' is also very important because that’s the value of G20: to bring the main players together and therefore to figure out how we can move ahead better.”
