A

s we get ready to pack our cars and head for picturesque hills and seaside towns for the upcoming holidays, make sure that your furry children are taken care of in the city.

We’ve shortlisted five picks for the top five-star resorts for (wo)man’s best friend.

1. Woof Avenue

Clean and idyllic streets, futuristic high rises, lush green trees that line the roads, nothing spells out a suburban dream destination more than Gading Serpong. Woof Avenue has built a reputation as one of the most famous play and grooming areas for Serpong’s most beloved dogs, and their boarding facilities do not disappoint.

Opened in 2018, its facilities and swimming pool will ease the worries for your fur babies as they spend a few days away from you and socialize with other canines. Aside from receiving regular traditional grooming, your furry pets will even be able to try out the sauna and will be given oxygen capsules and aromatherapy! That’s even better than regular human hotels.

They also have a ton of activities to drive out the woe of separation anxiety for your dogs, such as obstacles, hurdles and other fun exercises.

Might want to get a move on, they have 12 medium cages and eight large kennels overall, for Rp 200,000 (US$12.80) and Rp 250,000 per night respectively.

2. Dogs Ministry

You might have heard of this cafe in North Jakarta as one that serves delectable food and drinks with a side of playtime with dogs, but did you know that they are a pet hotel too?

Their facilities include deluxe rooms for large dogs, offering them a spacious and comfortable place to spend the night. All of the dogs will be cared for by the guards, acting as their personal concierges. Other facilities include daily room sterilization, 24-hour full air conditioning, the famous rooftop dog park and free swimming.

"A ministry is a place of worship for Christians or a place to find peacefulness. Thereby, we hope Dogs Ministry can be a place of peacefulness for dogs and their lovers and a scene for the [cynophile] community," the founder, Ervi, previously told The Jakarta Post. We could not agree more.

To book a room in the dog hotel, fee starts from Rp 150,000 per night. Please note that to get through the doors, your dogs must be vaccinated, lice and/or fungus-free and they should not be menstruating.

Branding themselves as a one-stop dog entertainment venue, Rumah Terraria offers a spacious field, boarding capacity for 250 dogs, a swimming pool, cafe and training area providing comfort for your beloved pets along with their dedicated staff.

Located in Bogor, West Java, their services include three-month training complete with swimming lessons, vitamins and anthelmintics. They also offer pick-up and delivery services for those living within Greater Jakarta, and flea medication or fungal medicine baths to ensure that you have a happy and healthy fur baby.

Starting from Rp 120,000 to 170,000 per day, the stay will include two meals a day, along with tonnes of fun activities and play time for your best friends.

Another for those in South Tangerang, Joglo Dog Villa is ready to welcome your dogs with open arms in their 2,000-square-meter space.

Unlike other kennels, where pets are usually placed in cages, Joglo Dog Villa lets the dogs roam freely and interact with the caretakers because they believe that dogs should be free to run and explore their surroundings.

Like all the other pet hotels, spaces are limited. Joglo Dog Villa offers three buildings in the complex that can accommodate about 30 dogs. The abode is complete with air conditioning, quality dog food, a large playground for the canines and even shuttle transportation for an additional fee.

Before you drop them off, be sure to adhere to some conditions: the dog must be in good health, flea-free, has a valid vaccine book and must wear frontline plus when picked up or dropped off.

A small breed will cost Rp 85,000 per day, while bigger ones will be charged Rp 95,000 per day.

We finish this list with one of the best hotels in the center of the city, in Brawijaya to be exact. Practicing a “home away from home” ethos, similar to some others on the list, the place does not use cages for dogs so that they can learn to socialize with other furry friends.

The activities provided take place in the day-time, to provide for resting time at night. Letting the dogs have their fun at the no-grass playground, owners can rest assured that their dogs won’t come home with ticks and fleas.

As for nutrition, Dog Daycare Jakarta provides premium dry-food or homemade special recipes. By mixing Oxyfresh Oral Hygiene with the beverages, it will ensure a healthy mouth and teeth for the dogs. Fish-oil is also included to make sure their coat stays soft, shiny and healthy.

Other features include full air conditioning, swimming pool, a non-smoking environment, relaxing music, and free grooming for a minimum of seven days stay.

Dogs that weigh seven kilograms or under, considered small-sized, will be charged Rp 150,000 per day.
