Garuda provides free flights for national soccer team's 2016 AFF final match

Garuda Indonesia provides free Jakarta to Bangkok round trip tickets for all players and the official Soccer Association of Indonesia (PSSI) in support of the 2016 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF).

tate-owned airline Garuda Indonesia gives support for the national soccer team (Timnas Indonesia) through free plane tickets for the second leg of 2016 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup final match in Thailand on Dec. 17.

Benny S. Butarbutar, VP Corporate Communications Garuda Indonesia stated that the company will be providing free Jakarta to Bangkok round trip tickets for all players and the official Soccer Association of Indonesia (PSSI).

“We hope our support will be able to strengthen the players’ will to make Indonesia’s national soccer team the winner of AFF 2016 for the first time,” Benny said in an official statement.

Aside from providing free tickets, Garuda will also add to the capacity of its Jakarta to Bangkok return flight on Dec.17. It will operate the Airbus 330-300 with a capacity of 287 passengers instead of the usual Boeing 737-800 NG with a capacity of 162 passengers.

The change is made to accommodate the needs of local supporters who want to attend the match and support the team, Benny said.

Previously, Indonesia won the first leg of final match against Thailand at Pakansari stadium in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday. (asw)
