As reported by Antara news agency, digital music service Spotify recorded a 3,158 percent global increase in the streaming of Michael's solo tracks the day after news of his death was announced.

Among the top five most streamed songs are "Last Christmas", "Careless Whisper", "Faith", "Freedom! '90" and "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go".
Prior to his successful solo career, Michael reached fame as a member of duo WHAM! with his school friend Andrew Ridgeley. He passed away at his home in Goring, England, over the Christmas period due to heart failure. (kes)
