olin Trevorrow, who was due to write and direct the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX, would no longer be involved in the project, as announced by Walt Disney earlier this week.
As reported by Reuters, Disney and Lucasfilm cited differing visions as the reason behind Trevorrow's exit. A replacement has not been named since Disney made the announcement on Tuesday.
Trevorrow's exit marks the second Star Wars project to lose a director this year.
In June, Disney announced that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had left the Han Solo spin-off movie due to creative differences. They were later replaced by Hollywood veteran Ron Howard, Oscar-winning director of A Beautiful Mind.

Star Wars: Episode IX is part of Disney's expanding Star Wars franchise films, which follows its 2015 hit Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The reboot film made more than US$2 billion at the global box office, where it also featured stars from the 1977 original film, including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.
Reuters said Disney gave no details about the reasons for Trevorrow’s departure, adding that Hollywood trade paper Variety cited sources as saying the split stemmed from differences over the script. (liz/kes)
