onsuming foods with certain vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B12 and magnesium, for example, is said to help reduce the symptoms of anxiety.

As compiled by Insider, here are vitamins and minerals that could help manage anxiety:

Magnesium

A study published in 2012 discovered a connection between lack of magnesium and anxiety levels in mice. Hence, people are advised to consume greens and nuts to fulfill their magnesium intake.

Zinc

The effect of zinc on anxiety symptoms has been discussed in various research. Although some studies showed that zinc is impactful in lessening such symptoms when being experimented in male rats, further studies are still required. In our daily lives, zinc can be found in beef and cashews.

Calcium

Calcium is said to lower stress hormone cortisol, which is often linked to anxiety. Aside from dairy products, calcium can also be obtained from green vegetables.

Omega-3

Apart from lowering cholesterol levels, omega-3 fatty acids are also beneficial in managing anxiety. Fish like salmon and tuna are known as the sources of omega-3 fatty acids that can be included in your diets.

Probiotics

Similar to calcium, probiotics are said to be able to reduce stress hormone cortisol. People can find it in whole grains, bananas and soybeans.

Vitamin B12

There have been various health articles discussing the connection between lack of Vitamin B12 and anxiety and depression. The vitamin also has other advantages, especially for our red blood cells and DNA. It can be found in different foods, including poultry, dairy products, meat and avocados.

Tryptophan

Foods that contain tryptophan, such as cheese and turkey, could help reduce anxiety as it produces serotonin, which contributes to our happiness.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is not only good for your skin but also to combat anxiety. Oranges may be the most popular vitamin C source but you can also find it in strawberries and kiwi.

Antioxidants

Said to have the capability of managing anxiety, antioxidants can be found in blueberries, beans and chocolate. (wir/kes)
