AKARTA: One of Indonesia’s pioneer airlines PT Asi Pudjiastuti Aviation (Susi Air) is ready to buy 16 aircrafts worth US$100 million this year, an executive says.
The aircrafts comprise Cessna C208B Grand Caravan, Piaggio P180 Avanti and Pilatus PC-6 Porter planes, Susi Air president director Susi Pudjiastuti said on Friday.
“This is part of our plan to increase our revenues by 20 percent throughout this year,” she added, citing last year’s revenue figure of about Rp 200 billion ($2.36 million).
Susi Air aimed for a 25 percent increase in number of passengers to 50,000 this year, up from 40,000 passengers in 2011.
To reach its target, Susi said, the airline has secured approval to open more than 15 routes in Aceh; Ketapang, West Kalimantan; Samarinda, East Kalimantan; and Manokwari, West Papua.
The government provided Rp 44 billion in support for the new routes as part of its program to help develop remote areas by giving subsidies to operators that fly there.
