emarang: Second Sergeant Yusuf Harnawan, 28, was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment on Tuesday by a military tribunal in Semarang, Central Java, for murdering 23-year-old university student Siti Faizah.

Yusuf, an Indonesian Army soldier assigned to the legal division of the Military Region Command (Kodam) IV/Diponegoro, was also discharged from the Indonesian Military, according to the verdict read out by presiding judge Maj. Siti Alifah on Tuesday.

The court found that Yusuf deliberately strangled the victim Siti Faizah to death after she discovered he was in a relationship with another woman, identified as Kurnia Laela Sari.
