AKARTA: A maid employed by graft suspect Neneng Sri Wahyuni has said that two Malaysian citizens accompanied her and her boss on their return to the nation from a hiding place in Malaysia.
“We went our separate ways at [Soekarno-Hatta International] airport,” the maid, Camilah, told reporters after she visited Neneng at the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) detention center in Jakarta on Thursday.
Neneng, the wife of graft convict and former Democratic Party treasurer M. Nazaruddin, returned to Indonesia last week after fleeing to Malaysia last year to evade KPK investigators.
She was accompanied by two Malaysians, R. Azmi bin Muhammad Yusof and Hasan bin Kushi, when returning to Indonesia.
The entourage entered Indonesia via Batam, Riau Islands — an illegal route favored by returning illegal migrant workers — before flying to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on a commercial flight.
Neneng’s lawyers previously denied that Neneng was accompanied by the Malaysians.
The KPK has named Azmi and Hasan as suspects for obstructing the KPK’s investigation.
