AKARTA: After setting a trend with their checkered shirts, the campaign team for Joko “Jokowi” Widodo launched an online game entitled Selamatkan Jakarta (Save Jakarta), with Jokowi as the hero.
“It has not yet been officially launched, but at least 50,000 people have played it since Saturday,” the team’s coordinator for communication and media division Budi Purnomo Karjodihardjo said, as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
He said that the game was adopted from the famous Angry Birds. They made several modifications, and the camp hoped the game would be played by at least 1 million Internet users from Indonesia. “We expect that the game could be a means for political education for the younger generation,” he said
The game, which can be accessed through Facebook or by logging on to www.metric-design.com/game.swf?, features Jokowi on a mission to save Jakarta from all its problems, such as corrupt officials, crimes and the waste problem, by using tomato bombs, rockets and TNT.
